Menge: A Modular Framework for Simu- lating Crowd Movement

چکیده
We present Menge, a cross-platform, extensible, modular framework for sim1 ulating pedestrian movement in a crowd. Menge’s architecture is inspired by an implicit 2 decomposition of the problem of simulating crowds into component subproblems. These 3 subproblems can typically be solved in many ways; different combinations of subproblem 4 solutions yield crowd simulators with likewise varying properties. Menge creates abstrac5 tions for those subproblems and provides a plug-in architecture so that a novel simulator 6 can be dynamically configured by connecting built-in and bespoke implementations of so7 lutions to the various subproblems. Use of this type of framework could facilitate crowd 8 simulation research, evaluation, and applications by reducing the cost of entering the do9 main, facilitating collaboration, and making comparisons between algorithms simpler. 10 We show how the Menge framework is compatible with many prior models and algo11 rithms used in crowd simulation and illustrate its flexibility via a varied set of scenarios 12 and applications. 13

MengeROS: a Crowd Simulation Tool for Autonomous Robot Navigation
While effective navigation in large, crowded environments is essential for an autonomous robot, preliminary testing to support it requires simulation across a broad range of crowd scenarios. Most available simulation tools provide either realistic crowds without robots or realistic robots without realistic crowds. This paper introduces MengeROS, a flexible 2-dimensional simulator that realistic...
متن کاملKarl Sigman 1 Simulating normal ( Gaussian ) rvs with applications to simu - lating
Fundamental to many applications in financial engineering is the normal (Gaussian) distribution. It is the building block for simulating such basic stochastic processes as Brownian motion and geometric Brownian motion. In this section, we will go over algorithms for generating univariate normal rvs and learn how to use such algorithms for constructing sample paths of Brownian motion and geometr...

This paper presents a novel conformal end-fire antenna whose design employs the Competitive Algorithm of Simulating Natural Tree Growth. This algorithm is based on the idea of simulating the processes of growth and wilting of natural trees and can search from simple to complicated structures with rapid convergence. Four optimized radiation elements were designed on a cross structure to verify t...
متن کاملA Flexible Framework for General, Multi-agent Based Real-time Crowd Simulation
In this paper, we present a generic and flexible framework for multi-agent based, real-time crowd simulation. Due to the modular arcitecture and the simple structure, all components can easily be modified or replaced. In contrast to many other crowd simulation systems available, our system is able to handle very different scenarios and behaviors with minimal adaptation effort. Furthermore, the ...
